Head Start
Head Start is a family centered development program for children age 3-4. Ten percent of the
children served have diagnosed disabilities. You, as the parent, participate in the program.
Head Start believes you are the most important factor in your child's development. If your
family meets income guidelines, your child may receive health, education, meals and social services.
There are three program options.
Home Base: A home visitor makes a weekly visit to your family. You will learn to become
a better teacher for your child. Three days each month your child receives group experience at the center.
Center Base: Your child attends a local center four days each week.
A licensed teacher provides your child with learning experiences.
Combination: Your child attends a local center two days each week and receives home visits
twice each month.
Head Start is available in all nine counties
of Region 9 in southern Minnesota.
