Community Grant and Training Opportunities
We are excited to announce a capacity building opportunity available to emerging and established organizations in South Central
Minnesota. MVAC is requesting proposals for a nonprofit management training program which will build organizational capacity for community-based and
faith-based organizations, as well as worshipping comminuties meeting critical human needs. Minnesota Valley Action Council is the local partner,
organizing the training providers to meet the required educational components and managing the request for proposal process. MVAC is facilitating
this opportunity in cooperation with the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches and the Minnesota Council of Churches.
There will be several areas of no cost training provided that will enhance the capacity of local organizations or groups
of people that have not formalized their efforts into an organization.
Financial fitness classes will be offered by MVAC. These classes provide 12 hours of training in personal financial matters, including:
budgeting, saving, debt reduction, asset building, building a good credit rating, consumer protection and financial institutions. Class
participants will then be equipped to provide this information to people they encounter through their own organization,
making financial fitness an integral part of assisting households in need.
